SEO (Search Engine Optimization) should be viewed as a prime form of marketing. It can place your business in front of your targeted and prospective clients and can help increase your brand awareness and online visibility.
In a recent survey by Hubspot, only 9% of businesses using inbound marketing with SEO failed to see an ROI. (source: Hubspot) If it works for 91% of businesses, it is very likely to work for you, too.

My First SEO Experience
My first real endeavor to optimize a website was connected to a new venture I began back in 2009. After I launched my website and registered with Google, Bing, and Yahoo, I was surprised to see it didn’t even appear in my Google search. I really did not understand how to make my website work for me! I searched for an SEO company near me but found none. I desperately wanted to appear on Google’s first page when searching my market, so I determined to begin the process myself.
So I studied and learned, worked on my site, and learned, implemented new techniques, and learned. And I learned about keywords and meta and page titles and, and, and…! Then in just a few short months, my website appeared in the top 3 searches for my market in my location. I say all that to say this–if you are a local business or organization, it may take some time, learning, and work, but when you commit to great SEO, it will pay off. My results? More than half of the people who came through our doors found us first online.
Good SEO Attracts Customers
So suffice it to say, if your website doesn’t attract customers, one very strong possibility is that you need to optimize your site. There are other aspects of your SEO marketing that will need to be worked on, on it will always be part of your ongoing marketing strategy. But it all starts at your website’s on-page optimization.
If you get that right, you will begin to rank higher and get better online traffic to your site. Of course, that’s assuming you have a good design, good content, and a truly marketable product. But if you do, you can grow your business, and especially locally, if you get your SEO right. (And a few extra Facebook views don’t hurt, either!)
